Quick Update Regarding Commissions

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 4, 2014, 2:36 PM
Tumblr | Facebook | YouTube | Pixiv Commissions

To my current commissions in-progress, I want to give a little heads-up, this weekend(and the previous week) is very busy. I'll be getting back to the commissions after Tuesday, but I need to hold off on them for a deceptively large school project that is due on Tuesday. Thank you for understanding, and the works will turn out much better because of this.

COMMISSION INFORMATIONSo I've gotten a lot of requests for commissions and the one thing I'm missing is organization! I don't have many examples to show(and nothing specifically a bust or full-body, but you should get the gist of what those would entail), but as soon as this gets off the ground I'll be able to supply more. Commissions will be for a full-color illustration in my manga style.
:star:Greyscale Sketch $20
A greyscale sketch will be a quick greyscale drawing. By their nature, there will not be revisions given for this type of commission. These are often rough and "incomplete," as they are sketches and not finished works.
Additional characters are $10 per.

:star:Bust/head shot $30
Self-explanatory, this is essentially a character portrait. In some cases, more can be drawn.
Additional characters are $15 per.

:star:Waist-up or 3/4
COMMISSION STATUS! [OPEN]Here I'm going to put live commissions so both parties can keep track of what's going on where. I didn't expect to get enough traffic to commissions for this to be a relevant thing!

Not really. I use Photoshop, I don't really like the way SAI feels.
Programs don't generally slow down your computer, though, unless they're malware. I doubt any of the mainstream painting programs do such a thing.

yeah dude, I'm mostly alive on tumblr, cuz on deviant art I always realize when I finish something It's not worthy LOL
I always post WIPs most of the time instead.

I JUST figured out I wanted to become concept artist like last year, wish I realized it sooner, I would have practiced sooner :(
What about you man? I take it you graduated from SCAD right? Feel free to write a novel on response, I'm interested enough ROFl

Pfft so from our last interaction I was kinda sure you hated me or something but I just felt like everyone bandwagoned that. *Shrug* Past is the paaaast.

Yeah. I'm barely active on Tumblr 'cause I don't get traffic there and it's kinda disheartening. I've also been doing a lot of NSFW work lately, with only a couple I can post here, and I want to keep my main blog on Tumblr SFW for maximum exposure. I've got a bunch of shit I wouldn't wanna post here because they're more like "sketches," but maybe people would wanna see that. Who knows. Maybe.

Dude yeah. I phased in an out of the idea of concept art. My personal favorite part of drawing is the long rendering process, though, which is only done for production art when it comes to concept art. Turnarounds, thumbnails, concept sketches... it's all so loose and rapidfire that it doesn't sink in with me. Like. The concept art that most people see is actually post-production, or reworked (like speedpaints would be pushed through another pass before being put in a concept art book, for example). Speed, efficiency and a general high volume of output are what's most important in concept art. I... wanna noodle around with drawings a bit more. Haha. It's super cool, though, and the way my friend :iconsoftmode: described it, it's "make cool stuff: the job." Like how would someone NOT want to do that?! So it's something I'd be open to, but not a main ambition. I'm still going into comics, self-publishing/webcomics though. I want to paint them and try to make the most of my skillset. My shortcomings in anatomy and composition can be made up with color and rendering (not that I'm hiding behind that, but it makes some errors easier to look past in the end). Because all art has flaws.

I actually didn't graduate, though. Due to financial bullshit, I ended up only being able to afford two or one class a quarter. The normal load is three classes, and you would graduate in four years if you just take the classes you're supposed to (I think you'd have like two or three extra classes?). I kept missing out on the mandatory lectures because of later sign-up times, and I ended up finishing my major last year, only having bullshit filler courses left (art history electives, 3D Design (foundation course), Public Speaking, etc.). It's like $10k per quarter, though, on top of my living expenses (I'm off-campus but it's still a lot of extra money while I'm not exactly MAKING any money), I decided it wasn't worth it, for now. A degree isn't really necessary in the art world, and I really wanted to go to SCAD because of the comic major and because I knew I wasn't good enough to start doing my thing right away. Looking back at how I drew before college, yeah, I really needed the time here. If nothing else, the focused courses and the talented friends I've met here (Doom included) made it totally worth it.

So now I'm out in Chicago with some dudes, attempting to find a part-time job to cover rent and basic costs and using my free time to draw more, do commissions, and start up my webcomic. Also playing a lot of Smash 64 because we're all bros. I've gotta keep on-point though, I don't want to wake up one morning and realize I forgot about the art career. One of my roommates hasn't drawn in a while and he graduated from SCAD, same major as me. Hopefully us being in the same house will inspire some more art happenings, of course!

Novel over. HOW IS LIFE.
